ENGAGEMENT | STAGLANDS WILDLIFE RESERVE, UPPER HUTT
Privilege, it was, to have met this couple with enormous hearts. Not just for each other but for the people around them. The stories that they have shared over coffee while waiting for the “right moment” to begin this shoot told so much about them. As individuals and as a couple.
She is from Hamilton. He is from Taihape. She is a volunteer Ambulance officer and is studying to be a veterinarian. He is a contract fencer and is completing a course to be a firefighter, inspired by his soon-to-be father-in-law. Their paths crossed in Fielding Ambulance Station. That was three years ago.
In three months they will be getting married in Palmerston North where they are both living now. And we will be there. That, a great honor.
Here they are, who won our hearts at first sight.
Brett and Lauren.

The place may look familiar to those of you who follow us. We were here just about three months ago shooting another engagement session. When we asked Brett and Lauren where they want theirs done, they told us they want it to be in Staglands as well as they both grew up in farms and both love animals. They drove all the way to Wellington for this shoot. The weather forecast for that afternoon was far from what we hoped but once again, it did not disappoint. So much more so, for these two. They made it such a breeze for us.
The photographs, they made so beautiful.

We were supposed to go to a garden nearby but it was closed so we ended up in this park in Upper Hutt. We love how they can switch from being funny to intimate and how they tease each other, make up and kiss. And we love how they can dance.

Brett and Lauren, however you found us and whatever it was that made you choose us, we are very, very grateful. Thank you for driving all the way to Wellington and spending this afternoon with us. We look forward to driving to Palmerston North on December and meeting you both again, this time with your families we’ve heard so much of over our coffees. Oh! And I (Redge) especially look forward to meeting your gown in person…..and the veil, again.
Much love, Meeko & Redge
P.S: By the way, can you just be like these again on your wedding? Look down. We love them!!!!
