On the news, three days before this happened: “A tropical cyclone is expected to bring wet and stormy weather to much of New Zealand just in time for the weekend.”

This was that weekend.

We were ready for the worst. Heavy rains, strong winds and all. In the trunk of the car we have packed my pair of gumboots, umbrellas, rain jackets and even spare clothes in case we get stranded and would have to stay the night. All we got though was drizzle here and there. I guess someone from up there knows that that day was a very special day for a very special couple.

Angelique was one of the brides we met in a wedding expo we took part of in 2012. Months after, we received a call from her Mum. I found that very sweet. We have been blessed to have met perhaps the nicest Mums in the world and Averil was an addition to them. She has also been following our Facebook page, liking our posts every now and then. So, on the day when I finally met her, I was over the moon.

Ryan, we met him twice before their big day. I remember how I asked him whether he has seen our website and he was very honest to say he has not but even on that first meeting, I enormously felt his enormous trust in us already and he even said they would pay right away to make sure no one else can book us on their wedding date. I must have blushed a little.

Together they make such a nice couple, clearly in love with each other. During the reception, when Ryan was delivering his piece, he said, “I have only been married for about an hour and I highly recommend it already because it feels really great.” That made everyone applaud and laugh. Everyone, including his wife who really smiled from the heart. (We have a photo to prove that.)

Angelique and Ryan, thank you for choosing us to tell the story of your special day. Thank you for the trust you have given us from the very start. You both have been a pleasure to know and even more, to work with. We’re really glad how the day turned out and although it poured when we left, we drove home with a smile knowing we have made photos that (hopefully) will remind you of how right you are for each other. Perfect, actually!
