WELLINGTON WEDDING | DOWSE MUSEUM | RENEE + DAVID

Their paths crossed seven years ago. They worked together and saw each other every day. Back then, there was already some kind of attraction, they knew. For him, maybe it was just a crush but she was quite certain that back then, she was already in love with him. She was hanging on a very thin rope though because he had a girlfriend then so nothing more could happen and sadly, nothing did until their contracts expired and they lost touch.

So many things happened in their own lives and even in such a small world, their paths never crossed. Until three years after. She heard that he was confined in the hospital for a broken leg. After three years, she sent him a message to ask how he was doing and just like that, it happened. They found themselves talking on the phone every day and seeing each other often. This time, they knew there was something and it wasn’t merely “some kind of attraction”. This time, they knew it was something else. It was something big. It was something real.

It was love.

One day (three years later) after staying in the toilet for over 20 minutes, he came out, walked to the living room where he left her watching television on the couch. What he said, she (and I) thought, was very romantic. “I do my best thinking in the toilet……” then she started laughing and crying at the same time  as he took a ring out and asked her to marry him.

After a year and six months, they did. They married each other on a very glorious day and everyone there, I am sure would agree that what they have, it really is something.

001

David and Renee, when we learned that I am pregnant and that my due date is just about 6 weeks from your wedding day, I knew I had to tell you to give you time to look for and book another photographer. I felt that it was just fair that you do so and quite honestly, I really, back then, preferred that you booked someone else as anything can happen and I was too scared of the possibilities. I also knew that I would be looking like a hippo by that time. But to you, it did not matter. You really made us feel that you wanted no one else but us. That meant so much. We do not celebrate Thanksgiving here but hey, it should not stop us to remind ourselves that there are so many things, big and small in our lives to be thankful for.

We are thankful for you. It may be that you saw Meeko climb the roof on Kharlina’s wedding that convinced you to go with us or perhaps the photos in our blog that you every now and then browse through, Renee. Whatever it is, we are just glad that you did. Thank you for the amount of trust you have given us, the cake that you left lying by our doorstep when I was not feeling well, the warmth you welcomed us with on your wedding day and most of all, for the friendship. Meeko and I really think you two are something kind of wonderful. You have such big hearts.

We hope you’d love what you’re about to see. Thank you for allowing us to document your first day as husband and wife. It was a great honor and we look forward to what the future has in store for you both and your two boys.

Much love and appreciation. Redge (and the rest of the team, Meeko, Lucia and this man who is refusing to see the world yet).
