It’s like the whole universe conspired for them to meet each other.

Three years ago, in two different parts of the world, they both decided they needed a break. She loves snowboarding and thought of working a ski season in Canada so she booked her flights from Wellington and went. He just finished university in England and thought of country-hopping with his best friend. Their first stop was Canada. After meeting her there though in a small ski town where they were both staying, he made it his last too.

His whole plan changed and he didn’t mind. He knew his entire life would change when he decided to follow her to New Zealand and it is something that until now, he celebrates. He found the one his heart has been waiting for and on the 6th day of November, in possibly, the most gorgeous day of Spring, he married her.

They were referred to us by one of our favourite people in this industry, Miranda, who played a big role as the couple’s wedding celebrant. When I first met with them and they first told me their story and how Chris proposed, I knew this wedding will be nothing fancy but very special and it really was. They made their day “them” — simple, easy, relaxed and happy. They also decided to see each other before the ceremony so they can have a moment to let it all in, just them two and realise what that day really meant — that it was the day they become one.

Chris and Mel, in a wedding we covered some three years ago, a bridesmaid said in her speech, “When God sends people in your life, He knows what He’s doing.” When we met you two, I remembered that again and really, we thank God for sending you our way. For sending Miranda our way so that she can send you our way 🙂 You have been truly pleasant and wonderful. Thank you for having us and please send our thanks to your family and friends who have been very warm receiving us that day.

Much love.
